Janette Arlene Goldey, 95, of Knightstown and formerly of New Castle passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born May 13, 1924 in Sterns, KY to the late William Wesley and Truie May (Hayes) Stephens. Janette loved to travel with her husband, James, traveling to 48 of the 50 states.

She also enjoyed quilting and reading. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Cumberland. Janette especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by two children, Janette (Allen) Griggs of Knightstown and Nickey (Sharon) Goldey of Mooreland; grandchildren, Jena (Tony) Smith, Kathy (Matthew) Driskill, Mathew (Cindy) Goldey, Nickey (Bob) Goldey and Truie Goldey; eight great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Oren Goldey, four brothers, three sisters and great granddaughter, Emily Grace Goldey. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tom Current officiating.

Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
