Janice Margaree (Kaylor) Shugart November 02, 1945 – May 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Janice Margaree Kaylor was born November 2, 1945 in Atlanta, GA. She was the only daughter of Claude and Margaree (Mosier) Kaylor. The Kaylor’s moved to Carlsbad, NM when Janice was about five years old.

She grew up in Carlsbad and attended various schools. She attended the old Airfield elementary when her parents lived in Thayer Apartments. Her parents had one of the only TVs in Thayer Apartments and neighbors would come over to watch after Carlsbad finally got a TV station.

She also attended Hillcrest, Eddy, Eisenhower Junior High and Carlsbad High School. She did most of her growing up years living on Lake Street. Janice became interested in spiritual things and began having a Bible study with a couple from the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses at about 15 years of age.

She was baptized in Hobbs, NM in some very cold water on June 16, 1962. She remained an active Bible student and teacher until her death. She was a “Pioneer”, that is a full time Bible teacher for a period of time from Sept.

9, 1994 – Dec. 5, 1996. She attended Pioneer School Aug.

13-24, 1995. Janice fell in love with, and married a young man, Roy Allen Shugart, on Dec. 21, 1963.

She had not finished High School. Roy was living and working in Lovington, NM at the time. Janice was about to finish her senior year of High School.

The plan was for her to live with her parents and finish school. But they could not stand to be apart. So she quit school with one semester left and joined her husband in Lovington.

Later she got her GED. When Roy met Janice he had come to Carlsbad to have a “Blind Date” with a girl in the Carlsbad Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. When he walked into the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses to meet Janice he spotted a pretty little blonde.

He said “forget Janice, I want to meet that blond”. And that blonde turned out to be Janice, his future wife. Janice had one son Allen Linn Shugart, born on March 23, 1965.

She loved her son, her grandson Tate Shugart, and her husband Roy. Her husband and son have had health problems for the last few years and she has taken care of them all. As well as other people who needed a place to live.

She loved people and they loved her. Janice loved to travel. Loved to go places and do things.

She lived as full a life as her health and circumstances would allow. And she was the glue that held her family together. She will be missed terribly by all.

Janice died peacefully at home, sitting in her chair she went to sleep. When she wakes up the Earth will be new. It will be the Paradise she taught people about.

Her health will be perfect. God’s word was a sure promise in her heart. And the promised resurrection of the dead is our hope to see her again.

Janice went to sleep on May 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Margaree. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy Shugart, one son Allen Shugart, one grandson Tate Shugart and one brother, Dale Kaylor and his wife Tammy.
