JB Benton, 81, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System Union in Monroe. Mr. Benton was born May 14, 1937 in Union County to the late Raymond Sylvester Benton and the late Kate Haigler Benton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Benton and a sister, Hilda Benton Furr.

JB was a retired supervisor of Charlotte Piping and Foundry and in later years was a member of the Union County Cattlemen Association. A graveside service will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Hope Second Advent Christian Church Cemetery, 6804 Morgan Hill Road in Monroe officiated by Rev. Josh Smith.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the graveside service. Survivors include wife, Shirley Benton of Monroe; sons, Phillip Michael Benton and wife Brenda of Indian Trail and Glen Alan Benton of Monroe; grandchildren, Chad Benton and wife Kara; Chase Benton and wife Morgan, and Brandie Benton and four great grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Benton family.
