Jean Greene Gorman, 84, former resident of Lodge Grounds, resident of Ashley Place, widow of Dr. Fred Gorman, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Greenwood, November 27, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Frances Rearden Gunnells and J.C. Gunnells. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and St. Francis School of X-Ray in Charleston.

She hand crafted Golden Angels, before returning to her hometown of Greenwood. A member of First Presbyterian Church and the Chancel Flower Committee, and as a kitchen volunteer for The Gap, she was also instrumental in various other works within the church.

She was also very active in community affairs and was a member of the Greenwood Unit One Garden Club, Republican Women’s Club, and the Greenwood Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She also loved her travels in Europe, England and Mexico and spent a lot of time with family at Fripp Island, Hilton Head and in the mountains. Twice married, she was first married to the late E.H. “Bubber” Greene.

Surviving are a son, Edward Hampton “Hamp” Greene, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Hilton Head; a daughter, Kathy Greene Riddle and husband Phil of Greenville; two grandsons, Will Greene of Charleston and P.J. Riddle of Columbia; two step-granddaughters, Victoria Tilly of Charleston and Mary Andrews Huffman of Lexington, KY; nieces and nephews, Burn Rhouton, Mary Madge Amsler, Michael Gunnells, Preston Freeman, and Michael Rhouton. She was predeceased by only a few hours by her brother, Dr. J. Caulie Gunnells. Services will be conducted at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with the Rev.

Dr. Kyle Hite officiating. A joint family committal service for she and Dr. Gunnells will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday at Edgewood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Chuck Moates officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Osprey Village, P.O. Box 3155, Bluffton, SC 29910, or via their website at www. ospreyvillage.org.
