Alice Elizabeth Stroud Thompson, resident of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away July 29, 2018 at the Hospice House of Greenwood. Born in Emanuel County Georgia, April 17, 1931, she was the wife of the late William “Bill” Marsh Thompson and daughter of Dessie Eugene and Martha Smith Stroud. Mrs. Thompson attended Swainsboro high school.

She was a homemaker and nurtured and love many young lives in her home daycare for 20-plus years. She loved cooking and was especially known for her… Read More » pimento cheese and vegetable soup. She took much pride in caring for her organic garden and yard that she and her husband created together.

Her passion was caring for people. She was a member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Greenwood where she also nurtured young lives. Leaving behind cherish memories and the legacy of her love embodied in her surviving daughters: Marsha Campbell and husband Larry of Anderson, Donna Lynn Johnson and husband Ned of 96, Robin White and husband Ron of Greenwood; grandchildren: Laura Huber and husband Peter of Winston- Salem, North Carolina, Katilyn Poore and husband James of Greer, Matthew White, all of West Columbia; great-grandchildren: twin boys Philip Wade and Abel Myers Huber; a brother, Eugene Stroud and wife Judy of McDonough,Georgia; a sister Mary Frances Singletary of Swainsboro, Georgia and many beloved nieces and nephews; her family by choice, daughter Lynne Moore Scoggins of Greenville; grandchildren Whitney Butler and husband Neil of Charleston, Leigh Scott and husband Hugh of McClellanville; great-grandchildren Elliott and Bratton Butler, Grier, Bo and Sarah Scott.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd McCoy and Rev. Bryan Bult officiating.

Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be nephews, Lyndon Singletary, Bradley Singletary, Dwight Singletary, David Stroud, Brian Stroud, Thompson Skeen, Tremaine Skeen and Jim Serrian. Honorary escort will be David Skeen and Richard Sirianni.

The family is at the home of Donna and Ned Johnson, 224 Frazier Road, Ninety Six, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646, or to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.
