Obituary for Jean Schmidt Jean Kathleen Schmidt, longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully July 12, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family. She was 75 years of age. Jean was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 7, 1943, daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Dave) Sperzel.
She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Daniel Schmidt, on August 13, 1960 at St. Peter Lutheran Church of East Detroit. The couple made their home in Fraser in 1974 and raised their four wonderful children of whom they loved and cherished. Jean loved children and opened her home as a licensed daycare where it was always safe and loving environment.
She enjoyed cross stitching, knitting and handwork sewing. Everyone looked forward to her delicious cakes she always made. Jean especially loved her visits to Vegas.
She was a giving woman who always did things her way. Jean will be deeply missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever. Jean is the devoted wife of the late Daniel; dearest mother of Kathleen (Greg) Potrykus, David (Analiza) Schmidt, Susan (Romando) Harrington and Kevin (Susan) Schmidt; cherished grandmother of Melissa, Erik (Holly), Lindsey, Michael (Jamille), Steven (Kimberly),Robert (Jessica), Jarod and Jacob; and beloved great grandmother of Aidan, Elena, Winry, Mikayla, Calvin, Rocco and Joslyn.
A Committal Service will be held at St. John Cemetery of Fraser on Saturday at 9:30am. Memorial contributions may be addressed to Ascension Lutheran Church of Macomb.
