Obituary for Jean Stone Lowder Thelma Jean Stone Lowder, 85, widow of Kenneth Claude Lowder, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. Born October 12, 1933, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Sidney P. Stone and the late Vera Geddings Stone. She was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, Mission Friends leader, VBS director, choir member, a member of the Eva Geddings Circle, and served as WMU director.

She retired as manager of The Daisy Shop. Survivors include four children, Claudia Barwick (Bennie) and Kathy Johnson both of Manning, and Nancy McLeod (Eddie) and Lynn Young (Benton) both of Sumter; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Joyce Hudson of Manning; a brother, Phil Stone (Sherry) of New Hill, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia McElveen; and a great-grandson, Bryson Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Friday at Home Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Barwick and the Rev. Allan Glass officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to express their appreciation to Ms. Sarah Brookshire, Ms. Rhonda Hackler, Larryett Edwards, Fonzie Gipson, and Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospice for the love, care, and support that they provided.

Memorials may be made to Home Branch Baptist Church, 2398 Home Branch Rd. , Manning, SC 29102. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
