Obituary for Jean Styers Rogers Jean Styers Rogers, 81, of 291 Guilford Street, Danville, VA, and Fontaine Road, Cascade, VA, died Friday, June 15, 2018 after several months of declining health. Jean was born on November 11, 1936 in Gaston County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late George Edward Styers and Beatrice Baldwin Styer.

She lived most of her life in Danville, VA and Cascade, VA, and she was of the baptist faith. She attended Danville Public Schools and Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, VA. She taught history and coached girls basketball at Dan River High School, and she worked with her mother and father at Rose Lane Florist and Greenhouses in Chatham.

Jean was an avid flower gardener, camper and traveler. She was an inducted member of the DCC Sports Hall of Fame. On December 28, 1957 she married George Daniel Rogers, who survives.

In addition to her loving husband, George Daniel Rogers, she is survived by two sons, George Michael Rogers and wife, Carrie of Ringgold, VA, and Lewis Anthony Rogers and wife, Vickie of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Joan Giles of Gastonia, NC; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Sigler of Danville, VA; five grandchildren, Tony Rogers and wife Krista, of Garner, NC, Jessica Loesch of Virginia Beach, VA, Justin Rogers and wife Elizabeth, of Chatham, VA, Larah Rogers, of Virginia Beach, VA and Daniel Rogers, of Ringgold, VA; five great grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews also survive her. One infant daughter, Rhonda, predeceased her. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel.

Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, at the funeral home, from 12:30 until 1:45 PM. At other times they will be at 781 Fontaine Road, Cascade, VA.
