Obituary for Jeanette Griggs Davies Jeanette Griggs Davies 5 August 1938 – 1 July 2018 Jeanette Davies was the sixth of nine children born to Ninetta Lavern Andrews and James Preston Griggs and the first to be delivered at the hospital in Idaho Falls. Raised on a small farm in Coltman, Idaho, Jeanette learned to love the Gospel through music. Her voice was magnificent and her passion for good music lead her to sing opera at BYU.

She would sing her whole life at home, in church, for friends, funerals and weddings; she loved the iconic musicals and movies of her era, passing on a legacy of great vocal performance to her children. She married the love of her life, RJ Davies (1934 – 2014), on June 11th, 1959. Shortly after the birth of their second child, they moved to Napa, California where she would give birth to 5 more children.

Their fifth, Chad, died only a few days after birth. For the space of 30-plus years she raised her 3 sons and 3 daughters who would all serve missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Making ends meet on a teacher’s salary wasn’t easy, but she ran a tight ship and kept food and bread on the table that was almost always of her own making.

After RJ retired, she entered the workforce and continued working in church membership records for over 15 years. She served an 8-year part-time mission for the church afterward. Jeanette passed away peacefully on July 1st, 2018 at home surrounded by her family with a slight grin on her face as she was received on the other side by her sweetheart, RJ, and her son, Chad.

She is survived by her 3 siblings, 6 children, 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many friends. She was a kind soul who loved her husband and family very much through the many trials she endured. We will miss her dearly and remember her fondly as “Grammy” – a mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
