Jeanne Kane Scanlon, 88, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully surrounded by her family at home, January 14, 2019. Born January 6, 1931 to Garrett and Mildred Kane, Jeanne is predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, James E. Scanlon; and brother, Garrett Kane. Jeanne is survived by children and grandchildren Mark, Mary Jeanne, Kim, and Megan Evans, Andy Duffy; James, Vicky, Jim and Laura Scanlon, Katie and Corey Copper; Garrett and Sherri Scanlon, Matt and Michelle DeVenne, Tony and Danielle Santilli; Daniel, Kathy, and Dan Scanlon, Kaitlyn and Rory Cotter; Kelley, Michael, and Matthew Martin; great-grandchildren Kylie, Caitlynn, Cameron, Milli, Mikey, Miles, Maddi, Dylan, Shannon, and two on the way; brother-in-law Michael C. (JoAnn) Scanlon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mom attended Holy Rosary Grade School (where she met our dad in first grade), and The Ohio State University. Mom was loved the most by those who knew her best, but also had a profound impact on anyone fortunate enough to know her. Because of her welcoming personality, our home was a hub of activity for extended family, neighborhood friends, and school classmates.

Mom was all about other people, and if you ever wanted to brighten her day, all you had to do was tell her about good things that were happening in the lives of family, friends, and acquaintances. Mom’s favorite activity was watching her kids and grandkids participate in their various activities and going on family vacations at Vanderbilt Beach. Mom was a humble and prayerful person who was very thankful for a life blessed with everything that was most important to her; a strong faith, a family who loved her, and good friends.

Special thanks to National Church Residences for their in-home hospice care. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 313 N. State St., Westerville, OH.

Fr. David Gwinner Celebrant.
