She was the second child born to Mary Francis and Louis Looney. As a child Jeanne was always quiet and unassuming whose best friend was a book.

She was always very studious and received excellent grades. Her education started in a 1 room school house in Zion Hill Tennessee and continued at Swift Memorial Junior College in Rogersville Tennessee where she completed both high school and junior college. She furthered her education at Livingston College in North Carolina and proceeded to Hunter College in New York where she received the degree of Master’s in Social Work.

My Mother’s career as a licensed clinical social worker spanned for decades from Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and her retirement from Interfaith Medical Center. My Mother demonstrated the characteristics and epitomized what a true role model, scholar, leader and change agent should be. She found relaxation and enjoyment in bowling as well as casino visits.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, a brother and husbands. She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life her son Douglas; grandchildren Douglas 2nd, Nia, and Jesi-great grandchildren Nia Marie and McKenzie-one sister Inez Hord- one brother Jasper David- one niece Dana Johnson, two great nieces Ebony and Emony, one great nephew Dwight Cook, several cousins and host of loved ones and one special care giver Trina Hillyer. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Lamb Funeral Home Inc. will be serving the family.
