Jeffrey Robert Sherman was born December 21, 1961. After a long, valiant battle with numerous medical issues and two transplants he passed away late Sunday night, November 4. Born in Utica, New York to Bill & Helene Sherman, Jeff’s family moved to Toledo in 1964.
Following graduation from Sylvania Southview High School in 1980, Jeff went on to study communications at the Specs Howard School of Media Arts. He then joined the team at WCWA radio as a disc jockey. During his young adulthood years, Jeff developed a love for cooking and catering.
He owned and operated Deli Delight first at Franklin Park Mall and then in the Spring Meadows Shopping Center. Jeff displayed his artistic abilities in the presentation of meals and creativity with unique names of meals primarily after his family and close friends. Following the closing of the delis, Jeff went on to work selling “bologna” for Lipari Foods for twenty-three years.
During his adult lifetime Jeff also operated Simply Delicious catering, providing countless meals for life events and business functions. Known by many as “Deli Boy” Jeff’s personality could always be seen through his tremendous culinary skills. Besides his career in food services, Jeff was extremely fond of music and brought his love for music into his home.
Additionally, Jeff had a wonderful sense of humor and ability to tell all kinds of jokes. Like his father before him he had a unique ability to make people around him feel very comfortable and at ease. Everyone loved Jeff and his friendly smile.
Jeff was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He relished time with family and friends and loved to FaceTime with his beloved grandson. He wanted nothing more than to live another day with his family who was his life.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Alison (Levey) Sherman and their three children, Sarah, Joshua and Jamie Sherman as well as beloved grandson, Odin. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Sherman Steinberg, with whom he shared a very special bond that included her donating a kidney to him a little over ten years ago; brother-in-law, Dan Steinberg, sister-in-law, Debra (Levey) Kamikow and husband, Jeff; along with nephews and nieces, Sam (Melissa) Steinberg, Benji Steinberg, Stacy Steinberg, Claudia and Evan Kamikow and loving father-in-law, Larry Levey.
