Mr. Jerry Minzlaff of Fredonia passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice Center in Wauwatosa on Sunday morning, November 18, 2018, at the age of 90 years. Jerry was born in Marinette, WI on April 29, 1928, oldest child of William and Laura Peth Minzlaff. The family moved to the Milwaukee area while Jerry was a young man, and he graduated from Shorewood High School before proudly serving his country in the US Navy.

On April 7, 1951 Jerry was united in marriage with Lois Pearce at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Peshtigo, WI. The couple moved to Waukesha before building a home in Fredonia.
Mr. Minzlaff was employed at the Wisconsin Electric power plant in Port Washington as a powerplant mechanic. He retired in 1988 after 40 years. After he retired, Jerry enjoyed woodworking and spending time at his cottage in Crivitz.
He always had a project going, from crafts and lawn décor to toys made for his grandchildren. He was very proud of the totem pole he built and placed in his backyard. Jerry was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fredonia and a member of the Warren Kane American Legion Post 410 in Fredonia.
Jerry was also an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish, and who never missed cheering for his Wisconsin sports teams. Jerry is survived by his wife Lois and their three children: Paul (Pam) Minzlaff of Big Bend, Kris (David) Born of Menomonee Falls and Jim (Sue) Minzlaff of Fredonia. He is further survived by six grandchildren: Eric (Jamie) Born of Gurnee, IL, Bryan (Holli) Born of Madison, Dan Born of Menomonee Falls, Elizabeth and Erika Minzlaff of Milwaukee and Rebecca Minzlaff, also of Milwaukee, three great-grandchildren: Declan, Barrett and Lennix Born, brothers Jerne (Judy) Minzlaff of Amberg, WI and Arling (Shari) Minzlaff of Sturgis, SD, sister Ardis (the late Dennis) Yingling of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive visitors at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave. , Fredonia, on Friday, November 23rd from 10AM-12PM with an American Legion walk through at 11:30AM. Funeral Services will begin at 12 noon with Rev.
Marshal Frisque presiding. He will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Day Care – Fredonia or the Aurora Zilber Family Hospice.
