Jerry R. “J.R.” Nelson, 75, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown. Jerry was born in Chicago, Ill. , on May 6, 1943, a son of the late Bernice Stalder and Richard Nelson.

He was the husband of Linda L. Dionisi Nelson. He was formerly employed by Wear Me Apparel as a controller. J.R. is preceded in death by his brothers, Scott and William.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Richard Nelson, husband of Dina, Levittown, N.Y.; daughter, Tracey Amey, wife of Joel, Fredericksburg, Va. ; grandchildren, Sammantha and fiance, Alex, Emily, Natalie and Riley; and a sister, Nancy Fritz, Wisconsin. A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
