Longtime Cedarburg resident Jill Suzanne Hayden passed away peacefully at the Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon on Wednesday October 24, 2018. She was 67 years old. Jill was born in Pontiac, MI on August 14, 1951, the daughter of Eugene and Beatrice (nee Bommer) Zellen.
After attending local elementary and secondary schools, she went on to graduate from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Jill was united in marriage to the love of her life John “Jack”… Read More » Hayden on January 28, 1978 in Farmington Hills, MI (during a huge Michigan blizzard). After working as a teacher and paralegal, she devoted 100 percent of herself to raising and caring for her family.
She reveled in being a Mom and often told her girls, Courtney and Lindsey, their birthdays were the best days of her life. The last few years, Grandma was her favorite title. Jill found beauty in all things.
She enjoyed being outside working with her hands. She was a master gardener, found quilting relaxing and enjoyed jewelry making. Jill always had time for a cup of coffee with the people she loved; her listening ear and advice was appreciated by many.
Jill loved a good adventure; highlights include living in Europe as a newlywed, visiting many cities in the United States, Amsterdam, Costa Rica, several memorable medical mission trips she took to Guatemala with Jack and Lindsey, climbing Mount Hood with a fun group of girlfriends (some of Cedarburg’s finest women) and once she went skydiving. Jill was never one to miss out on the fun and there is peace knowing she now watches from a different view. Survivors include her loving husband Jack Hayden of Cedarburg, daughters Courtney (Doug) Fromm of West Bend and Lindsey Hayden of San Juan Capistrano, CA, grandson Carter Fromm of West Bend, siblings Sally (Kent) Oswald of Glen Arbor, MI, Lawrence (Shirley) Zellen of Lake Orion, MI and James (Jennifer) Zellen of Bloomfield Hills, MI, many special nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to Jill’s doctors, caregivers and hospice nurses, especially Dr. Joe Nand, for their compassionate care the last few years of Jill’s life. Courtney and Lindsey will be forever grateful for their Dad’s exceptional love and care of their Mom in sickness and in health all the days of their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gregg Zellen, and niece a Kristin Oswald.
