Jimmie (JD Redeye) Dickson, 83, of Magnolia, AR passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Jimmie was born on April 9, 1935 in Magnolia, AR to the late Hubert E. and Lurline (Walthall) Dickson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked at Alumax for 42 years.

He served his county in the United States Army from 1958 to 1964. Jimmie was a member of the National Rifle Association of America, Single Action Shooting Society, Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association of Hot Springs, AR, and Arkansas Muzzle Loading Association. JD Redeye’s passion was cowboy action shooting.

He told Ann when they married she didn’t have to shoot so she became a non-shooting score keeper and they enjoyed 15 years of life on the traveling cowboy circuit. Jimmie’s proudest accomplishments were winning the Elder Statesman Category at Southwest regionals and becoming the MVSA overall club champion, which included cowboy shooting, skeet, trap, IDPA, and CMP shooting. Jimmie and Ann traveled Arkansas, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and even traveled to Alaska for a month of cowboy shooting.

They loved hooking up their camper and heading out to the range. They were known for their famous chicken spaghetti and chili that they were asked to serve often on the range. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ila (Tubb) Dickson; and brother Dayton Edward Dickson.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann (Cheatham) Dickson of Magnolia, AR; daughters, Angi Rogers and husband Ric of Killen, AL and Shari Gore and husband John of The Woodlands, TX; son Danny Doughty of Glenville, NC; grandchildren, Landyn Dees of Dallas, TX, Madison Dees of The Woodlands, TX, Blake Rogers and Kendyl Rogers both of Killen, AL, Grace Gore and Nate Gore both of Magnolia, AR; brother Billey Dickson and wife Sue of Magnolia, AR; sister-in-law Deanie Dickson of Magnolia, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Pam Estes officiating and Pastor Dan Read. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR.

Visitation will be held prior to service from 12:45 to 1:45 PM at the church. Pallbearers will be Freddy Hunter (Headstone Hunter), Bob McDaniel (Rowdy Bob), Joe Brisco (Brisco Kid), Kenny Kirkpatrick (Jeramiah Blackstone), Glen Irvin (Bulldog McGraw), Cleon Williams (Ozark Outlaw), Chuck Rowe, and Dayton Dickson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Rowe, Ken Barker (Christmas Kid), and Nelson Wynn.
