Joan Schultz passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at the age of 80. Joan was born on April 5, 1938 to Clarence Joseph and Nellie Ann Barney in Provo, UT. She was the third of six children.
Joan grew up in Provo, UT. As a child, Joan had a feisty personality and a great, witty sense of humor that continued throughout her life. Joan was lucky enough to meet the love of her life, Ronald Schultz at a young age.
Joan and Ron were married May 1, 1954 and they were later sealed in the Oakland, CA Temple on January 20, 1972. Joan and Ron were blessed with 5 wonderful children. Ron’s work took the family to many corners of the west.
Joan was fortunate enough to be able to stay at home and raise their children. Joan had many admirable qualities, talents and traits. She was extremely patient, kind and was a true example of how to love unconditionally.
Joan was a gifted seamstress, often making clothing and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Joan was an excellent cook and she loved to color in coloring books. Joan had an amazing ability to provide a nurturing and loving home for her family and friends.
Joan enjoyed gardening, especially her beautiful flowers. She knew how to find every weed as far as the eye could see, and Ron was all too happy to pick them for her. Their love story was one we would all be lucky to have From their children they were blessed with 14 grandchildren; Stephanie, Lisa, Chelsi, Dustin, Traci, Andy, Teresa, Carson, Aiden, Molly, Austin, Mathew, Jaxon and MaKaylie.
Joan was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald, her son Ronnie, her sisters Bonnie and Linda, her son in law Ken Grass, and Joan and Ron’s beloved dog, Daisy. Joan is survived by her children; Danell (Mike) Valdez, Peggy Grass, Amy (Jason) Atwood, Eric (Laura) Schultz, her brother Marrell Barney, sisters Mary Herbert and Jill (Ron) Swenson.
The family would like to sincerely express their gratitude to the Park Place Assisted Living home in Pleasant Grove, for the kind, compassionate and excellent care that was given by their incredible employee’s. Joan was fortunate enough to receive excellent, loving care from her niece, Kathee Fenton, who the family is extremely grateful to have provide her loving care in the last days of her life. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 12:00 noon in the Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson.
Family and friends may attend a viewing prior to graveside services from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Condolences may be sent to the family and a complete obituary found at www.
