Joan Davis, 84, of Quincy, (formerly of Clayton) died at 4:40 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Born January 22, 1934, in Kellerville, Joan was a daughter of Joseph and Erma Childers Lierly. She married Cecil Davis November 17, 1973, in Palmyra, MO.

He survives. Joan owned and operated Joan’s Beauty Nook in Clayton for nearly 50 years until her retirement. She graduated Clayton High School in 1952 and attended beauty school in Quincy.

She was well know for her crocheting and took many of her pieces to various craft shows in the area. She also made baby afghans for many family members throughout the years. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family.

Survivors in addition to her husband is a son, Kevin Gardner (Cindy), Quincy; her grandchildren, Jason Gardner (Elizabeth), Jackson Hole, WY. , and Nichole Davis (Vince), Quincy; her great grandchildren, Taylor Summers, Quincy, Joe Davis, Quincy, Henry Gardner, Jackson Hole, WY. , and Gabi Davis, Iowa City, IA.

; two sisters, Reta Brubaker, Moberly, MO. , and Faye Knight, Quincy; two sisters in law, Shirley Davis, Clayton, and Minnie Ross, Mt. Sterling; a special niece, Bobbie Jo Knight; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ella Mae Bence; and two brothers in law, Robert Brubaker and Richard Knight. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton by Rev. Sheri Renner.

Burial will follow at South Side Cemetery, Clayton. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home in Clayton. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice or the Blessing Cancer Center.
