Joe Wayne Ammons, age 74 of McQuady, KY died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Big Springs, KY on April 7, 1944, the son of the late Joe and Zola Ammons. Joe was a retired employee of Norfleet Farms, Dobbs Seed and Grain and Breckinridge County Detention Center.

He had many interests that include drag racing, hunting, 4-wheeling and raising a garden which had no weeds. He was a wonderful singer and enjoyed country music, he loved to aggravate, talk and never met a stranger. His family meant everything to him.

Joe’s children said their life with he and their mother was “Rich with love”. Joe and Margie attended Black Lick Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Ammons.

Joe is survived by his wife Margie Sturgeon Ammons of McQuady, KY 3 children: David Ammons of Hardinsburg, KY Joey Ammons and his wife Courtney of Irvington, KY Tammy Mattingly and her husband David of Hardinsburg, KY 8 grandchildren: Rebecca Pate (Brandon) Dylan, Carson and Brooklyn Ammons, Luke, Katey, Mary Grace and Sydney Mattingly 1 great grandchild: Elizabeth Pate 1 sister: Reba Milburn and her husband Randall of Custer, KY Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Black Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 4-8 PM and Friday after 8 AM.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Norton Cancer Institute.
