Miriam Dean Smith, age 84 of Louisville, KY and formerly of Hardinsburg, KY died Monday, July 23, 2018 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. She was born in Falls of Rough, KY on October 15, 1933, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Mary Louise Miller Fentress. Miriam was a devoted member of Hardinsburg United Methodist Church and Circle 3 as well as church treasurer for many years.

She was a former employee of The Farmers Bank and Young and Davis Electric Company. Miriam taught at the Lone Star school after graduating high school. She and her husband Stoy owned and operated Smith’s Welding Company.

Miriam loved her family, her church and was a wonderful cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stoy and her brother Ralph Fentress. Miriam is survived by her daughter Missy Thacker and her husband Bob of Goshen, KY 4 grandchildren: Scarlett , Hunter, Toula and Liam Thacker Funeral services will be held at Hardinsburg United Methodist Church on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11 AM with burial in the Ivy Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home from 3:30 – 8 PM and Friday after 8 AM. Expressions of sympathy are suggested of Hardinsburg United Methodist Church or Gideons International.
