John Alvin Traughber, age 78, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his home. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 at 1pm at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Anthony Lopez as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Michael’s Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 4-8pm and again on Monday from 11am until 12:30pm. A Rosary will also be held Sunday evening at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Mr. Traughber was born March 18, 1940 in Springfield to the late James O. and Juanita Axley Traughber.

He was a farmer and communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. In addition to his parents Mr. Traughber is preceded in death by his brothers, Randy Traughber and Tommy Traughber. Mr. Traughber is survived by his sons, James (Symanthia) Traughber of Portland, Jason (Kelley) Traughber of Clarksville and Vincent (Joni) Traughber of Springfield; brother, Edward Dwight Traughber of Cedar Hill; sisters, Elizabeth Doris of Greenbrier and Sue Elliot, Wanda Rose, Pam Rose, Barbie Ann Carter, Beverly Beauchane and Gail Duffer, all of Springfield; and grandchildren, James Wayne Traughber, Victoria Leann Traughber, Kimberly Elizabeth Traughber, Aalyah Faith Robertson, Julianna Grace Traughber, Dylan Ray Traughber, David Darrel Traughber and Cody Lee Traughber.
