John “Buddy”‘s Obituary John “Buddy” Weller, age 90, of Gibbon, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Fairfax Community Home. Funeral Service will be at 11 am on Friday, May 31, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, with Pastor Benjamin Rucker officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marlene of Gibbon; a sister, Mavis Pacher of Santa Ana, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends He was preceded in death by his parents; several children at birth; a brother, Jerome; a sister, Kelly Aufderheide; brothers-in-law, John Aufderheide, Vernes Bruns, Al Pacher, Ardine Hillmann, Elroy Bruns, and Charles Jones; and sisters-in-law, Ramona Hillmann, Lorraine Jones, and Nancy Bruns. John Erlin Weller was born on August 30, 1928 in New Ulm to Walter & Minnie (Panning) Weller.

He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School and Gibbon High School. Buddy was united in marriage to Marlene Bruns on July 19, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. He was inducted into the U.S. Army with fourteen others from Sibley County.

Buddy served during the Korean War from November 1952 to August 1954. He then farmed his entire career until he retired in 1991. Buddy and Marlene moved to Gibbon in 1998.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, visiting all 50 states. Buddy belonged to the American Legion for over 50 years, was a member of the Gibbon Lions Club, and served as a church elder and trustee at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Blessed be his memory.
