John Joseph “Jack” Preston III, 80, of Emmitsburg died on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA. Born August 20, 1938 in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late John Joseph Preston, Jr. and the late Mae T. (Martin) Preston. Jack grew up in Pennsylvania but lived for many years in San Francisco, CA where he worked at the Canbury Book Store.

Upon moving to Emmitsburg, he became a resident of St. Joseph Ministries. Surviving are his brother, Robert Preston and wife Virginia of Emmitsburg; 1 nephew; and 3 nieces. He was predeceased by a nephew, John Joseph Preston IV.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Martin McGeough, C.M. as celebrant. Inurnment at New St. Joseph Cemetery will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
