Obituary for Mr. John P. Limbrici SAUQUOIT – Mr. John P. Limbrici, age 95, was received by his Lord and reunited with his wife when he passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018. At the time of his passing he was in the hearts of those he loved the most. Born in Utica on May 10, 1923, John was the son of the late Anthony and Pasqualina (Tucciarone) Limbrici.
He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1943. A proud veteran of World War II, John served his country with honor from 1943-1945 as a Corporal in the United States Army/Air Corps stationed in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater of Operations. On July 26, 1952 he married the former Barbara A. DiMare with whom he shared 65 years prior to her passing on December 28, 2017.
Like others of the Greatest Generation, he was a good provider and was steadfast in his devotion to his wife and family life. After the War, John worked at Utica Drop Forge and later at Special Metals as an ultrasonographer Inspector in the Inspection Department. He was one of the original founders and was on the Board of Directors of the Special Metals Federal Credit Union.
He retired from Special Metals after 40 years of service. John was a kind soul and a true family man. His greatest moments were spent with his loved ones; his daughter was his greatest advocate and his grandchildren were a blessing to him and his wife.
He thought the world of them and they were always by his side. He was also a dependable brother to his sisters, mutually visiting and being concerned with each other’s lives. John always wanted holidays and birthdays to be special and for everyone to be together to share in the festivities and homemade Italian food.
John enjoyed gardening and he shared the bounty of his yearly vegetable garden. He maintained his house and made it a comfortable home. In his younger years, he was fond of golfing and was a member of the Special Metals Golf League even after retirement.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan and also of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. He was of the Catholic faith. John is survived by his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Brian Crowe; his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, and Alyssa Crowe; his sisters and brother-in-law, Angeline L. Limbrici, and Josephine and Sam DiMare; and his niece Anne and her husband Tim Towne and their family, Zachary, and Luke Towne.
He loved Anne as a second daughter and she loved him unconditionally. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sara R. Limbrici, and Anna M. Limbrici; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Filomena “Fannie” DiMare. In keeping with John’s wishes, his family will honor and commemorate his life at a private time.
By family request, please omit floral offerings. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery next to his wife. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mr. John P. Limbrici please visit our Sympathy Store.
