Obituary for Mr. Jeffrey M. “Jeff” Caraco Mr. Jeffrey M. “Jeff” Caraco, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Utica on December 5, 1955, Jeffrey was the son of the late John A. and Helen (Palmateer) Caraco. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, Class of 1973.

Jeff was employed by KeyBank as a Business Systems Analyst. Endowed with a keen mind, he was strong at problem solving, and interpreting data. He was devoted to his job responsibilities and was respected by his Management teams.

He retired in March of 2018 from the KeyBank in Rensselaer. A generous soul, Jeff had an outgoing personality. He was a great story teller and had a memory that held volumes of history.

He was a loving son, a beloved brother and a memorable friend to many. He was a sports fan of all New York teams and he watched their games religiously. Jeff was also a music buff and an old time rock ’n roller who enjoyed attending concerts, especially those featuring his favorite band, Mountain, most remembered their recording of “Mississippi Queen”.

He also loved rock guitarist Lesley West, a founding member of the band. Jeff was always up for the challenge of Black Jack. His mathematical mind helped him remember the cards dealt, and he knew when to hit, stand, or double-down, …but he never surrendered.

His humanitarian efforts led him to be a huge donor to Blood Banks and he was honored by the American Red Cross for his unwavering commitment and determination in donation. He always reached the annual maximum donation of his platelets. Although Jeff left this life, his legacy of giving will live on, literally.

Jeffrey was blessed by his siblings who survive him, John A. “Jack” Caraco, Barb Caraco, and Jim and Betsy Caraco; his daughters, Christina Caraco, and Jill Szeliga; a large extended family of cousins; and his co-workers and many dear friends who enhanced his life. The family is grateful to the physicians and nurses of the Cardiac Care Unit at the Albany Medical Center for their compassion and medical expertise. In keeping with Jeff’s wishes, the celebration of his life was held at the convenience of the family.
