Obituary for Eugene J. Cain Eugene J. “Gene” Cain, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Abraham House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 13, 1932, in Rochester, NY, the son of James and Mary (Hettenbeck) Cain. Gene was a graduate of UFA.

On November 9, 1957, he married Joanne Paolozzi in St. Agnes Church, a blessed union of 60 years. Gene served his country with the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He was an electrical planner at Niagara Mohawk for 34 years, prior to his retirement in 1992.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; children, Sandra and Fredrick Tedesco, Utica, Karen and Reed Willis, New Hartford and James and Yvette Cain, Texas; grandchildren, James, Freddy (Jessica), Patrick (Audra Crouse) and Christina (Melanie) Tedesco, Alexandra Willis, Justin and Chandler Cain; great grandchildren, Briana Tedesco, Harley, Justin and Haley Cain, and Joseph Tedesco. He was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.

The family will receive guests after Mass. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Gene’s name may be made to the Abraham House or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. at www. hospicecareinc.org/donate.

Envelopes will be available at the church. Gene’s family would like to thank the staff at the Abraham House, Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and Home Helpers for the care and compassion shown to him.
