Obituary for Denise Martin Denise Martin, 53, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 18th, 2018, at the Heritage Health Care Center, with family by her side. Born in Utica, NY, on May 10th, 1965, to the late Albert and Kathleen (Mohr) Tome. She was a 1983 graduate of Utica Free Academy, where she enjoyed being a part of her school marching band and a Yankee Cadet, performing in the color guard.
On April 26th, 2003, she was united in marriage to Steven E. Martin at St. Mary’s Church in Utica, NY. She is well known for her cooking and working at Tomas Lebanese Deli. She did various volunteer work as a Lions Ladies Auxiliary member and as a member of the Utica Road Guards for local road races.
Denise is survived by her husband, Steven E. Martin; mother-in-law, Carol Intorre of New Hartford, NY; father-in-law, John Martin of Utica, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Tome) and James Liebi of Rome, NY; son, John David Martin of Utica, NY; son, Edward Tome of Utica, NY; daughter, Nicole Harf of Baldwinsville, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Katrina (Martin) and John Martin of Forestport, NY; son, Airman John Harf of Baldwinsville, NY; daughter, Kathleen Martin of Utica, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah Tome and Andrew Czeck of Utica, NY; brother and sister-in-law, David and Wendy Tome of Fairport, NY; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathleen and Robert Hazelton of Whitesboro, NY; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maryann and Thomas Hastings of Utica, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Marlene Martin of Norfolk, VA; brother-in-law, Thomas Martin of New Hartford, NY; grandsons, Alan, Hunter, and Dakota Hallberg, Karsen Liebi, AJ, Brody and Connor Martin; her beloved dog, Riley; as well as nieces and nephews. Denise’s family would like to thank her friends, Jill McGowan, of Utica, NY and Sherri Guarnerio of New York Mills, NY for spending time with Denise during her illness. Her family would like to also thank all of her caregivers and doctors at Upstate Medical University Hospital, SunnyView Rehabilitation Center, Ellis Hospital, and the Heritage Health Care Center.
Visitation will be held on September 6th, 2018, at Surridge and Roberts Funeral Home, 470 French Rd. Utica, NY, from 4-6pm and a memorial service will be held at 6pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Lupus Foundation of America at www.
