Linda Ann Vogel, March 07, 1951 — August 27, 2018

Obituary for Linda Ann Vogel Linda Ann Vogel, 67, of Utica, passed away on Monday, Aug. 27, at St. Lukes Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on March 7, 1951, to Walter and Adele Dziekowicz, caring and generous parents who passed on their open-hearted personalities to their daughter.

Linda loved bingo, playing with her grandson, and picking out the perfect gifts for people. She would spend hours in card stores, reading every greeting card on the rack in a quest for the ideal message, while her kids rolled their eyes and begged her to hurry. They would be with her because she loved nothing so much as having her children around her.

Once they were grown, all her vacations were to visit her kids. She loved her dog Moose, or “Moose-man,” a tiny, white mop of a creature who enthusiastically adored her back. She loved to make people happy.

She took joy in even the smallest things — rooting for contestants on “The Price is Right,” a birthday card in the mail, the sight of tinsel on a Christmas tree, which she insisted on placing strand by strand (alone, since not even kids could be coerced or wheedled into that activity. Though they had to admit it did look much better her way. ) She worked for over 30 years as a unit receptionist at St. Lukes/Faxton Medical Center.

Her dedication to patients was so strong that even as a patient herself, she asked about the comfort of people in the rooms around her. In her early career, she decorated store windows. She would create elaborate displays for events and holidays, including a handmade candyland she set up on her front porch in the winter.

Linda will be remembered forever by her daughters, Staci, Tracy and Kelly; her sons, Keith and Eric; her brothers, Walter and Richard; and her grandsons, Jacob and Aaron. Special thanks to Richard and Ellen Dziekowicz, who were there when she needed them most. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug.
