Obituary for Walter J. Szuba Walter J. Szuba, 99, passed away August 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA. Walter was born on December 28, 1918 in Camden, the son of the late John and Caroline Koziol Szuba. On May 24, 1941, he married Charlotte Dec in Holy Trinity Church, a blessed union of 69 years until her passing on September 27, 2010.

Walter served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and was decorated with the Gold Life Saving Medal. He was employed in the maintenance department of Bossert Manufacturing for 43 years. Walter was a member of the Moose Lodge, Skiba Post #20 PLAV and Clinton VFW Post 9591.

He loved woodworking and he and his wife volunteered each year at the water station of America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk. Surviving Walter are his beloved daughter, Carol Duffin and her husband, David of Hilton Head, SC; sister-in-law, Molly Szuba and nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Richard Szuba. He was predeceased by his brothers Edward, Charles, Joseph and John and his sister, Jean Victor.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4-6 pm at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd, Utica. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 am from Sacred Heart Church & St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
