Obituary for Edgar J. Hallak Edgar J. Hallak, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Sitrin Health Care Center. He was born on October 20, 1941, in Utica, the son of Astoun (Anthony) and Mary (Ghariba) Hallak. Edgar attended local schools and was a graduate of Utica College.

He worked in the family business, Hallak’s Hardware World, with his brother, George, for many years. He later worked part time at AFSA, from where he retired. Edgar is survived by his sister-in-law, Janet Hallak; nephew, Anthony Hallak and his wife, Pamela, and their children, George Anthony and his wife, Jordan; and Jillian and her husband, Theodore Stubley; niece, Mary Ann Hallak-Serwatka and her husband, Thomas and their daughter, Lindsay.

Edgar also leaves his great nephew, Aidan George Hallak and special cousins, Yvonne Doris Hutchinson and her husband, Eugene, and their children, Bart, Douglas and Luke (Kerry); Carol Chanatry and her children, Julie, Yvonne Chesire (Paul) and Raymond (Doug); and cousin, Betty Chanatry. A Byzantine Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 10 a.m. by Father Saba Shofany at St. Basil’s Melkite Catholic Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

A private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery for the family. Donations in Edgar’s name may be made to the Oneida Square Project Coalition for Homelessness. Envelopes will be available at the Mass.
