Obituary for Shirley A. (Rocco) Frattasio NEW HARTFORD – Mrs. Shirley A. (Rocco) Frattasio, age 82, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on November 6, 1935, Shirley was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Marie Genevieve (Ducette) Rocco. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School.

On March 9, 1960 she married Nicholas M. “Nick” Frattasio with whom she shared 51 years in a union graced with a loving family, good friends, and great times. Her beloved Nick passed away on April 19, 2011. At one time, Shirley assisted in the family concern, the Utica Veal Company, but her primary concern was caring for her children.

Her outgoing and friendly personality led to her success as owner and operator of Shirley’s Luncheonette, and later Nonnie’s Kitchen. In her later years, she lovingly watched over many children in her day care center, tending to them as though they were her own, with special mention of Matteo, with whom she developed a special bond. A selfless woman, her heart was open to everyone, especially her children and grandchildren.

She had a sharp sense of humor, and laughter was her best medicine. She was a gracious hostess and generations of family and friends shared fond memories of Sunday dinners at her home. She also enjoyed monthly lunch with her cousins and occasional trips to the Casino.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Mary Anne Wells, Tricia Frattasio, Marie “Gina” Moulton, Jolene Frattasio, and Chanel A. Frattasio; her grandchildren, Sydney Wells; Celena Moulton; Erica Ciccone, and Joey Ciccone. She also leaves her brothers and sisters-in-law, Rocco J. and Lorraine Rocco of Delaware, Joseph and Joanne Rocco, and Frank and Deborah Rocco; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and special family member Elaine Furgol.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Frank Dare; in-laws, George A. and Judith Frattasio; nephew, Gary Frattasio; and special friend, Pinky Alsante. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00-700 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings.

Shirley’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday afternoon at 12:00 from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev.
