Thursday, April 19, 2018 John P. Sousa longtime resident of Guilford passed away peacefully at Middle Hospital, Middletown. Husband of the late Carolynda Coppins Sousa. John was born July 26, 1927 son of the late John David Sousa and Irene Mary Martin Sousa.

He is the father of Judith M. Lyon; Jody M. Sousa and his wife Ann; Jonathan M. Sousa; Jeffrey M. Sousa; and Jennifer M. Sousa. Brother of Robert (Mariann), Katherine (Norman), Diane, James, Priscilla, Gale (John), Gary, and William (Barbara).

Predeceased by a sister, Irene, a brother, Martin and a son-in-law Earl Lyon. Mr. Sousa retired from the US Army in 1966 and continued working in several area businesses; including real estate; restaurants, The Nutmeg Players (building the sets and acting) and also with Capella Cantorum. He worked mostly at Sasha Travel with his longtime companion Sasha.

Whom he traveled extensively with. Thank you to the Hearth of Madison for all the love and care. Friends are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, April 24 at 10 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.

Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford.
