John Richard Callahan, 50, of Asheville passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home. Born on April 1, 1968 in Hendersonville, NC, he was a son of the late William Kenneth Callahan Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth Seay Blankenship. John was of Baptist faith and always believed in helping others.

He would volunteer to help when someone was in need and devoutly gave blood at the American Red Cross. Surviving are his siblings, William “Rick” Callahan Jr. of Asheville, Sheila Callahan Lewis and her spouse, Don, of Candler, and Elizabeth “Beth” Callahan of Asheville, and his stepfather, William “Bill” Blankenship of Candler. A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in the chapel of Asheville Area Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services with the family receiving friends and hour prior.
