John T. Riner March 21, 1948 – January 03, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Funeral services for John Thomas Riner age 70 of Petersburg, will be held at 2:00pm Sunday January 6, 2019 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Larry Hames & Kevin Calahan officiating. Burial with full Military Honors, will follow in Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg. Mr. Riner passed from this life Thursday evening, January 3, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Born March 21, 1948 in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Joe Ben Riner & Nerene Haslip Riner, and was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Riner. Mr. Riner worked in Shelbyville at National Pen Corp.

for 16 years and later for FedX for 25 years. He served his country in the US Navy and was a long time member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ in the Richmond Community of Bedford County. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Ruby Jane Luna Riner of Petersburg, children; Kelly (Tim) Green of Shelbyville, John Paul (Taryn) Riner of Petersburg, Joe Riner of Petersburg & Renee Riner of Shelbyville, 9 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren, siblings; Carol Williams of Shelbyville, Joe Larry Riner of Ohio, Ted Riner of Lewisburg, Bill Riner of Petersburg & Nancy Townsend of Canada.
