John V. Zobenica Jr., age 88, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away April 17, 2018. John was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Member of Bible Baptist Church (Lancaster) and former longtime member of Grace Memorial.

U.S. Army Veteran, Korean War. Retired after more than 25 years of service with City of Columbus Water and Sewer Division. John had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed playing his harmonica.

Preceded in death by wife of 67 years, Mary; sons, John “Pete” Zobenica III and Brent Zobenica; brother, Dushan Zobenica; sister, Duke Tillman. Survived by son, Rick Zobenica; granddaughter, Jennifer (Derek) Miller; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kaeda, and Hudson Miller; daughter-in-law Cheryl; sisters, Zorina, Dessie, and Violet; his ornery dog, Puggy, who he loved and adored. A special thank you to his caregiver, Lena Luecke for the love and support provided to John.

He was wonderful man with a happy, goofy, fun loving, and sweet demeanor. John will be dearly missed by all. Family will receive friends Friday, April 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Pastor Roy E. Maple, and Pastor Faron Tabor officiating.
