Obituary of John Talman John D. (Filter) Talman March 9, 1962-June 25, 2018 Fort Montgomery, NY John D. Talman passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at Nyack Hospital, Nyack, NY surrounded by all of his loved ones. He was 56 years old. Son of David and the late Betty Herbolt Talman, he was born March 9, 1962 in Spring Valley, NY.

John was a Director at Leisure Travel Services of West Point, NY and retired from UPS in City Island, Bronx, NY. He was able to continue his love for New York City through his work by organizing trips such as Broadway Shows and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Considering himself an all around great athlete, he was an avid golfer and a member of the West Point Wednesday Night Golf League, taking first place in last years championship.

He was a Certified Official, refereeing local Track and Field events, as well as coaching young athletes in several sports in the community. Former season ticket holder of the Yankees, Jets, and West Virginia Mountaineers, he showed tremendous passion, loyalty, and dedication to those teams. Most importantly he enjoyed good music, great food, and cold drinks with the friends and family he loved unconditionally.

Survivors include his father David Talman of Utica, NY; his step father Gus Filter of Carson City, NV; his daughter, Sara Talman of Highland Falls, NY, his son Peter Talman and his girlfriend Nicole Tamburri of White Plains, NY, and their mother Jean Talman of Highland Falls, NY, his girlfriend Chris Bennington of Central Valley, NY; his brother Brian Filter and niece Erika of Carson City, NV; his sister Martha Talman of Durango, CO, and his Aunt Gloria and Uncle Peter Talman of Lords Valley, PA. John was predeceased by his brother James Talman. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28th at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29th at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
