Jon was born October 17th, 1940 in Detroit, MI the oldest and only son of Ivan and Madeline Youngs and older brother of Lee Ellen. Jon attended Farmington Hill School and enlisted in the United States Air Force immediately after his graduation.

Upon being honorably discharged Jon received a degree from the University of Alabama. He moved to Arizona in 1968, where after a brief stint as a forest ranger, he received degrees from Northern Arizona and Arizona State. Jon was a passionate fan of Arizona State Athletics, lifelong learner, and talented woodworker.

Jon is survived by his Sons Russell and Michael, daughter in law Elizabeth, and three granddaughters Allison, Sofie, and Emily. Jon will be laid to rest on Friday May 17 9:30 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
