Obituary of Jonna Smith Jonna Shaheen Smith, 63, died in her Stockton, MD home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, with her devoted husband by her side, on Sunday, September 30, 2018. She had been under the loving care of Coastal Hospice. Born on September 8, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL, she was a daughter of the late John R. Shaheen and Ann Shaheen of Salisbury, MD and graduated for Wicomico High School in 1973.

Jonna worked for Thomas R. Young’s Music Store in Salisbury and developed her talent as a pianist and organist. She played at several churches including, Shad Point, and most recently, Pitts Creek Baptist and KLEJ Grange Christian Fellowship in Pocomoke City. She also cleaned homes for the elderly and will be remembered for her willingness to sit down and talk to her clients.

She loved to cook, sing, especially in the Allen Memorial Baptist Church choir and often provided transportation for her mother to many out of town trips, including to North Carolina to visit the “In-Laws”. Jonna is survived by her mother, Ann Shaheen of Salisbury; husband, Wilson “Sandy” Smith of Stockton, MD; daughter, Angela Davis O’Neal and her husband Robert of Salisbury, MD; sister Jenni Butler of Nashville, TN; brother Jay Shaheen of Salisbury, MD; two grandchildren, Ian and Keegan; four step daughters, Sheri Whetzel, Cathy Casella, Lisa Smith, and Christina Smith; five step grandchildren Garrett, Dino, Megan, Kolton and Brayden; and many extended family members, including nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Jonna was preceded in death by her father, John Shaheen; two brothers, Jeff and Jody; and a special grandmother, Evelyn Groton Thorne.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 6 -8 PM, at the KLEJ Grange Christian Fellowship Church, 2810 Beth Eden Church Road, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the church, where there will be another visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Rev. Don Bailey will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or the KLEJ Grange Christian Fellowship Church, c/o Wilma Bailey, 3811 Stockton Road, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
