Obituary for Jose Lopez Jose J. Lopez, 65, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Garden City, Kansas. He was born July 1, 1952 in El Tablero, Jalisco, Mexico the son of Rodrigo & Juanita (Macias) Lopez. As a teenager, Jose moved to Santa Barbara, California.

He later moved to Garden City in 1974 and has lived in Garden City since. Jose worked for many years at Farmland. He later worked for many years, and retired from Brookover South as a farm hand.

He enjoyed raising his farm animals. In 1972, he married Martha Solis in Durango, Mexico. She died on April 1, 2002.

Jose is also preceded in death by his father. Survivors include a son Tony Lopez of Wichita, Ks; a daughter Lily Lopez of Wichita, Ks; his mother Juanita Lopez of Mexico; three brothers Rafael Lopez of Garden City, Raul Lopez of Garden City, and Miguel Lopez of Los Angeles, Ca. ; three sisters Teresa Lopez of Mexico, Lupe Rodriguez of Mexico, and Antonia Lopez of Mexico; his companion Mary Orozco of Garden City; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Salas as Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to the Jose Lopez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
