Joseph Allen Cox, 93, of Overland Park, KS passed away on June 10, 2018 in Overland Park, KS. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, service 2 PM, with reception following, on Friday, June 15, at St. Thomas the Apostle, 12251 Antioch Rd, Overland Park, KS 66213. Joe was born in Kansas City, MO to Joseph Earl Cox and Bessie Cox (née Byard) on April 11th 1925.

Joe went to at North East High School. He married Priscilla Jane Page on May 14th in 1950. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Navy on the USS Yorktown CV-10.

He was a volunteer member of the fire department of Elmhurst and Overland Park, a volunteer of the City of Overland Park, a member of Prison Ministries, and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church since 1965. Joe didn’t retire from working until he was 87 years old. Joe is preceded in death by his mother and father, and brothers Kenneth, Richard, Robert.

Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years Priscilla, son Jim Cox and his wife Gretchen Byer, daughter Kelly Burks and her husband Mark Burks, grandchildren Carl Matthew Burks, Natasha Cox, and Vanessa Cox, step grandchildren Noah Rees and wife Sarah Rees, Alphie Dick and husband Jason Dick, and great-grandchildren Ava Grace Burks, Ava Louise Rees, Henry Louis Dick. Memorials may be given St.Thomas Episcopal Church, music department.
