Obituary for Joseph B. Giesler Jr. Print Joseph Bernard Giesler, Jr. was born on January 17, 1941 to Rose (nee Flynn) and Joseph Bernard Giesler, Sr. in Elizabeth NJ. He grew up in Roselle and graduated from Marist High School in Bayonne NJ. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served aboard ship in the 1962 naval blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He later was a member of the Military Police on the island of Okinawa, Japan where he served 13 months. Following honorable discharge from the Corps, Joe apprenticed and became a highly skilled mold maker in the plastics industry. Joe was the consummate handyman who could repair anything except the broken hearts he leaves behind.
Joe had a wonderful sense of humor and never took himself or the setbacks in life too seriously. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice, and together they raised five children while living in Roselle, NJ and North Plainfield, NJ for 30 years. Joe retired and moved with his wife to Columbus, NJ in 2002.
Joe was pre-deceased by his parents and brother, Edward. He is survived by brothers Francis X. (Helen) and Gerard (Nancy, deceased); sisters Mary Schmid (Don); Regina Dietrich (Robert) and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Eleanor and Archie Nelson. Also left to cherish his memory are wife Janice, sons Joseph B. III (Connie) and Michael (Pamela); loving daughters Linda Matejek (Robert), Kathleen Schmitz (Christoph) and Theresa Lynn Giesler.
He also leaves nine beloved grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins and some very dear friends. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown NJ 08505. Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday November 28 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.
A brief period for visitation will be held on Thursday November 29th from 8:15 ~ 9:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday November 29th, 10:00 am at St. Isidore the Farmer Church, 2489 Monmouth Road, Jobstown NJ. Interment immediately following the Mass at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 250 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown NJ.
