Obituary for Robert Arthur Bijou Sr. Print Dateline Hamilton, Robert A. Bijou Sr., fondly known as “Bob”, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 27th, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Trenton, Robert was a lifelong resident of Hamilton. For over 40 years Robert worked as a printer.
During his distinguished career, he was employed with numerous companies including, Trenton Times, the Trentonian, Helene Fuld and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital of New Brunswick. Robert was a talented pipe maker, hand crafting his own tobacco pipes. This talent led him to selling pipes across NJ and surrounding areas to several Tobacco shops.
He was so successful at his skill, he opened his own shop in Hamilton known as R.Bijou Pipes & Tobacco Shop on South Broad Street for many years. An avid hunter, Robert was a member of J20 hunting club of Bordentown and the Over & Under hunting club of Hamilton. He was a New York Giants and New York Mets fan.
In his early teens, Robert use to enjoy drag racing and won a few trophies in the process. Robert was known through the years for attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting activities cheering them on. He could always be found enjoying his place in Cape May during spring and summer, and traveling to his home in Florida with special friend Denise to enjoy the weather, poolside during the winter months.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, caring friend and he will be missed by many. Son of the late Arthur and Emma Bijou he is predeceased by his wife, Edna Bijou and his half-sister, Rosemarie Dickenson. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Robert (Bob) A. Jr and Donna Bijou, his daughters and sons-in-law; Renee` and Gregory Pfaff, Nicole and Frank Brower, his grandchildren; Eric, Kyle, Adam Bijou, Lauren, Abigail Pfaff, Kyle, Nathan Brower, a special niece; Janice Marinuzzi, and his special friend; Denise Ramsden.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 4th, 2018 11:00am at St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish 3500 S Broad St, Hamilton Township, NJ 08610. Calling hours will be held Monday evening 6:00pm ~ 9:00pm and Tuesday morning from 9:00~10:00am at the Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown NJ 08505. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributes in his name may be made to The Progressive Center for Independent Living, 3525 Quakerbridge Rd. , Suite 904, Hamilton, NJ 08619.
