Buffa, 99, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. Mr. Buffa was born in New York City, New York and lived in Rahway for the past 94 years. He was a US WWII Army Veteran.

Joseph was a Boiler Fireman for the GAF Corporation in Linden for 33 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Rahway Retired Men’s Club, and the Rahway American Legion Post #5 and was the Chairman of the House and Grounds Committee. Joseph loved to garden, fishing and his animals.

Joseph enjoyed spending time with his grand and great grand children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is predeceased by his wife, Bridget C. Buffa, four brothers, Frank, Jerry, Jimmy and Paul, two sisters, Victoria Buffa and Mary Cascio and a daughter in law ,Karen Buffa.

Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Buffa, two daughters, Frances Thwaites and Rosemary and her husband Ray Newman, eight grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Andrew, Nicole, William, Raymond Jr., Michael and Joseph and three great grand children Austin, Brynne and Cassidy. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, 275 West Milton Avenue, Rahway, NJ 07065. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2019, 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Marys’ RC Church Rahway.

Entombment St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
