Montoya came into this world on November 6, 1973, with a soft cry and an amazing heart. He loved fiercely, laughed sweetly, and stood firmly in his beliefs. God took him home on February 18, 2019.

As a little boy, he thrived and found great joy in making others laugh at funny stories or jokes. With his sharp sense of humor, he could make anyone laugh. He had a deep connection to animals, loving and caring for many over his lifetime.

He was a licensed electrical contractor, and for a time, had his own company. He taught Electrical Theory at the Community College of New Mexico. Ever since he was a little boy, he enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together.

Joshua loved learning about the world and the universe. He was interested in sciences, histories, and genealogies. He was really pleased that he was able to trace his ancestors all the way back to the 1600s in Cantillana, Spain.

He enjoyed learning about new things all the days of his life. One of the many things he was looking forward to doing was going to the national parks, and taking photographs, combining two things he really liked, nature and photography. He had a keen eye for composition.

He loved walking in the petroglyphs, and the peace of the outdoors. As a dad, his proudest accomplishments were his two sons, Josiah and Jeremiah. He adored and admired them above everything.

He was always teaching them new things, whether it was history, astronomy, or watching documentaries about cultures, people, and the world. Joshua always enjoyed his time with them, fishing, flying kites, or taking them for a walk. He was always thrilled watching Josiah play football, and seeing Jeremiah’s incredible art work.

Joshua was deeply loved, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his Grandma Sarah and Grandpa Joe Montoya, his Grandma Alvina and Grandpa John Gales; his Stepfather James Ellis, his Uncles Robert Montoya, and Ronald Gales; his brother Roby Montoya; his cousins Patrick Montoya, Anthony Montoya, Amy Gales; and his much-loved cat, Assassin.
