Joyce was born in Lansing, MI. , December 26, 1932, the daughter of Charles and Marion (Hammond) Middlebrook.

She worked for Sparrow Health System for 15 years before retiring in 1990. Joyce was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She loved to quilt, read, and go shopping.

Joyce is survived by her children, John Theisen of SC, Judy (Tim) Baker of Mason, David (Angie) Theisen of Roscommon, Tim (Carol) Theisen of Holland, Patrick (Shellie) Theisen of Nashville, Jeffrey Theisen of Canton; grandchildren, Graham, Kirtley, Sarah, Joseph (Alicia), Craig (Jennifer), Emily (Walter), Olivia, Corey (Sara), Bryan (Amanda), Ryleigh (Collin), Chelsea, Alex, Sara and Ben; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Susan Middlebrook of Mason; special niece, Lorrie Miller of AZ, special nephew, Richard Swartz of AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Theisen; daughter-in-law, Esther Theisen; sister, Kaye (Richard) Swartz. No services are planned at this time for Joyce.
