Joyce E. Gooding, age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 here in Del Rio. She was born on September 9, 1931 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Jesse and Lily Verna Buttrill. With her father Jesse being a Rail Road section foreman she live along the tracks from El Paso to San Antonio while she grew up.

While living in Sabinal, Texas Joy married R.K. (Pete) Gooding July 25, 1952. They had one daughter Marlu V. Gooding while living in Uvalde, Texas. Joy worked at Russell True Value and The Bank and Trust and was a well a known artist.

Joy is survived by her husband of 66 years R.K. (Pete) Gooding; daughter Marlu Parker and husband Robert C. of Del Rio; grandsons, Troy B. Parker of Del Rio, and Travis W. Parker of Langtry; great-grandsons, Matthew, Levi, and Kyle Parker of Langtry. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1:30 P.M. at the Sabinal Cemetery in Sabinal, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of G.W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home, 114 Fletcher Drive, Del Rio, Texas.
