Juanita Carolyn Mongar, April 04, 1942 — September 18, 2018

Obituary for Juanita Carolyn Mongar Juanita C. Mongar passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born Saturday, April 4, 1942 in Gillette, Wyoming to Jack M. and Gillette “Jackie” (Click) Slates. She attended schools in Gillette, Wyoming and Burns, Oregon where she graduated high school.

Juanita also attended college for compute programing as well as nursing. She and David Mongar were married on November 6, 1967 in Burns, Oregon. Juanita worked in housekeeping and as a waitress before moving to Butte where her and her husband owned and operated the Washateria, the Lincoln Hotel and Nordic Refrigeration.

She was proud to hold a high-pressure boiler operator’s license. Juanita was active in her church and very often could be found going to garage sales, always on the hunt for something she thought would be useful or helpful to others. She would host Thanksgiving dinners for all the residents of the Lincoln as well as anyone who would come in off the street.

She was active with her sons in Boy Scouts and was a Girl Scout leader as well as taking care of her own family. She is survived by her husband, David Mongar of Butte, sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Donna Mongar and Fred Mongar all of Butte, daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Jason Mohler of Helena, grandchildren: Danika and Desireray Mongar, Eli and David Mohler and great-grandchildren: Hunter, Finn and Link. Also surviving are her brothers and sister-in-law, Melvern and Gayle Slates of Ashford, Oregon, Jerry Slates of Blackfoot, Idaho, sisters, Angeline Hite of Butte, Billie Goulard of Portland, Oregon and her brother-in-law, George Mongar of Butte.
