A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Oaklawn Cemetery, 720 South Camellia Boulevard in Fort Valley, with Pastor Willie Crosby officiating. The family may be contacted at their residence.

Born in Byron to the late Lawrence Emmit “Doc” Preston and Emma Augusta “Gussie” Dunn Preston, Mrs. Swindle was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a member of First Christian Church of Warner Robins, and enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James E. “Jim” Swindle; children, Cindy Arleen Howard (Buddy Johnson) of Baxley, James Barry Swindle (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville, Florida, Lesley Bart Swindle (Priscilla) of Strasburg, Virginia, Phoebe Allison Welch (Paul Nipper) of Macon, and Steve Preston Swindle (Katrina) of Lizella; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Rooks Funeral Home in Byron is in charge of arrangements.
