Obituary for Judith A. Balzer Judith A. Balzer (nee Tokarczyk), age 74, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Mercy Health – New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a lengthy illness. Born June 28, 1944 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain until moving to Elyria 2 years ago. She graduated from Clearview High School in 1962 and completed training at M.B. Johnson School of Nursing.

For 24 years, Judith worked as a registered nurse at Amherst Hospital retiring in 2009. After retiring from nursing, she worked at JCPenney in Elyria. Judith enjoyed gardening, reading and watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers.

Surviving are her daughters, Suzanne (Frank) Lester of Elyria and Christine (David) Shaffer of Amherst; grandchildren, Justin, Collin, Jacqueline and Genevieve; brothers, Joseph Tokarczyk of Lorain and Jim Tokarczyk of Goodyear, AZ; and a sister, Kathy Burrows of Goodyear, AZ; and her husband, Dennis Balzer of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Veronica (nee Sogan) Tokarczyk. A private funeral mass was held at St. Joseph Parish, Amherst with Rev.

Timothy J. O’Connor, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, Lorain, handled the arrangements.
