95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 23, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Macaruso for over 50 years. She is survived by her three children, Louis G. Macaruso, David G. Macaruso and daughter-in-law Leah Macaruso, Cynthia A. Ragsdale and her husband Mitchell Ragsdale.

She was the cherished grandmother of Bianca, Mitchell, Johnna and Anthony. She was the admired aunt of many nieces and nephews. Julia had a loving companion for over twenty years, Donald Dion.

Julia was the end of a generation – she was the last living child of the predeceased Georgio and Carmela Simonelli and their thirteen children: Fred, Angela, Frances, William, Ernest, Gerald, Francesco, Virginia, Louis, Mary, Rose, and Anthony – aka “Sonny”. Mrs. Macaruso was a restaurant owner along with her son Louis and siblings for many years. Julia belonged to UTC and the Cranson Senior Center – giving up much of her time in her later years to volunteering and helping others.

Julia was a duckpin champion bowler for many years, she was also an avid bingo player. Mr. & Mrs. Mac were quite the dancers in their day – and are still known by many for their memberable moves on the dance floor. Julia’s family would like to extend a sincere and compassionate thank you to all the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and staff of Capitol Ridge Senior Living and Elmhurst Rehabilitation.

Their kindness, patience and support was appreciated in her final years. Knowing that a loved one is well taken care of is the best peace of mind anyone can ask for. Mr. & Mrs. Macaruso were parishiners of St. Mary’s Church in Cranston.

They were devout Catholic’s their whole lives. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 29th at St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston, 11 AM. Wake and visitation will be held Wednesday November 28th at Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, 4-8 PM.
